There is a time for departure even when there’s no certain place to go.

– Tennessee Williams

today it is november and we've been in palo alto for two years. we'll be here for about 2 1/2 more months and then, who knows? but it's time and we'll find it.

last night eliot hit my leg with a block and i playfully said, "ouch! you hurt my muscles."  so he quickly went into action with his little fists clenched gently but powerfully "fixing" my muscle. he said, "i'm giving you more muscles, mommy. i'm just using my imagination." i said "your imagination? how do you do that?" to which he explained, "you know, imagination. like i'm up in the sky on a cloud. that's imagination. you can have your own bigger cloud mommy because my cloud is too small for you." i asked, "can our clouds be side by side?" he said, "yes, so we can play blocks."

Love consists in this, that two solitudes protect and touch and greet each other” – Rainer Maria Rilke
