i read this quote a long time ago and i love it so much! my previous post was so personal and now i feel happy i put it out there after coming across this a few minutes ago on icicng:
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
~ Marianne Williamson
I swear I cut this out a while back and can not remember where it was from. I thought it was part of a long story in a magazine I love/loved – but it was written by a man. Maybe he was quoting it. Where did you get it? Refresh my memory please.
marianne williamson wrote this in her book: http://www.amazon.com/Return-Love-Reflections-Principles-Miracles/dp/B0007XWN32/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1202364927&sr=8-1i thought for a while that nelson mandela said it but my google searches come up with ms. williamson!
I know that is what I am afraid of, but I fear what other people (sister) will do to knock me down to whatever level she perceives herself at and lower. I am scared of her. Funny huh? I have to prepare myself for whatever she may say about me to others, because I am tired of not being great at anything because of her jealousy.
you are extremely great! people everywhere work hard to be as amazing as you! never think of her thoughts again, that's what i say. can't control them, so don't give them a bother! you are full of love ad talents, let them shine shine shine!
I love this quote. It's easy to feel like we're not good enough; there's no expectations that way. When we embrace our best selves, we will have to expect the best from ourselves, and those around us.
