I am very proud of today's compliment. Number eight: I am a conscious eater and consumer. I eat a 99% vegan diet, I am tempted by sweets with dairy in them from time to time. I get a box delivered to my door once a week with local and organic produce. (The company does not package anything they deliver to us and they take back the boxes they deliver in- no waste!) I eat a lot of my food raw, I bring bags with me to the grocery store, and we recycle.
I love food, our planet and animals. I am so thankful for fresh and nourishing food.
Interesting article with a unique voice on food, restaurants and their impending future: http://www.esquire.com/features/21st-century-taste-like-1008
I too love the feeling of eating healthy and living sustainably… so much so that the food/chemical addictions of the past are no longer tempting and it's fun to research and adopt new ways of living organic too.Sometimes I just want to shout out all of these wonderful natural foods, etc. that I'm finding… but I'm learning that there's a right and wrong way to do that… Sometimes people get offended and feel like I'm criticizing the way that they eat :(Your self-complimenting idea sounds like something I would love to try… but I'm not sure I could pull it off as eloquently as you!
What kind words, thanks so much! And you are right, people are very sensitive about their own food choices. Sometimes it's as bad as politics! Ha! I was hoping I didn't come off to high on my pedestal, definitely not my intention. Thanks again.
I think there is a strong difference between bragging and being thankful for the good things in ourselves and you definitely portray the latter so no worries! I'm glad I found your blog.
Ami- thanks for that article. Michael and I are doing everything we can to live this way. With the exception of fish, which we are very mindful about, we are on the fence about eating meat. If we do, we have made a pact that we must know that it came from a local humane farm. Bottom line is, everyone may be forced to change their eating habits, which is a good thing.
I am with you about meat, I rarely eat meat but when I do it is from local farms here. it has been months since I have had red meat, but sometimes when we are making our cat food, I will have a little chicken. Ami has been a big help in sculpting a great structure of eating for me. She is a wealth of information and I often use that!
thanks love!
