The Wait

Dark sky with air you melt through

Tall trees with shadowed coconuts

You invite me to the ocean which thickens in the  moonless sky

Two boats filled with people rowing out to see the storm come in;

catch lightening in the waves;

receive silence in the heaviest clouds I’ve ever seen.

I find myself with my own boat

I find myself alone

I find myself wondering if I can swim back to shore;

No no no the water looks like oil

and the frightened creatures unseen are felt

Bright golden lights stab through the sky & water

While I wait out the night.
