Christmas day veggie brunch.
Super snowy Christmas morning for us. We always celebrate a little early, before we head to southern California for the holidays. Eliot opened all his presents with an empty belly and so by the time he was finished he was starving and a bit teary. He quickly recovered and has been playing happily with all of his goodies. He just now came up to the couch to hug me and say merry Christmas Mommy. Ahhh, lovely morning.

I don't think our house has ever looked so lovely at Christmas time as it does this year. With Andy and Eliot helping to decorate this year it came out beautifully. Here are some photos of our little decorations.
december 23. today would have been my grandma amelia's 96th birthday. i didn't make a phone call today that i've made for years and years. it feels strange.
recently i had a dream that my grandma came to me and handed me three shiny pennies. i was so grateful but i woke up wondering what it could mean. when i told my mom about the dream she said when someone gives you a penny it means they're thinking about you. i took the three pennies to symbolize my brothers and me.

What is the best present you have ever given?

i think one of the most meaningful gifts i ever gave was about six years ago to andy's grandma. i had a big idea and i drove all over santa monica and venice trying to put it together. there were three necessary items: a red boa, black shiny tap shoes, and a red glittery beret. it was for her birthday. the red boa, no problem, tap shoes~ found them in a dance store in venice, but that red sequined beret was no where to be found. so i bought a black one, a red velvet ribbon, some rhinestones, and glue. the velvet ribbon was for the edge of the hat but it needed one more thing for this lady, a little angel charm. when she put it on she glowed, she danced, she did her signature leg in the air with her foot over her head! she was a gift and her spirit is endlessly generous still.
