What? You love a good what I ate post? That’s so awesome because that’s what this is! OMG!

B- Little bit of cold brew Stumptown coffee in a cute bottle from Food Fight! with a bowl of instant organic oatmeal by Nature’s Path to which I add dark chocolate, chia seeds, rolled oats, a banana and frozen cherries. This keeps me full for almost 3 hours which is pretty miraculous so I eat it often.

S- Today I tried a little noni energy drink also found at Food Fight! with some blueberries and a square of dark chocolate.

Workout time! Ran one mile to the gym, one hour class and ran one mile home (or more like a jog, it’s hot here at the moment!).

L- Plant Fusion Phood Shake (from Food Fight!- again!) blended with cold green tea, spinach and frozen bananas. While I drank that I made some edamame with pink salt for after my shower. I’m only so hungry after a strenuous workout.

S- carrots and white bean hummus from Living Harvest with some Kevita.

D- white beans and steamed spinach in the most amazing vegan vodka sauce ever. Found at Food Fight! where else??

Dessert- an almond strawberry gluten free vegan whoopie pie from Back to Eden.

When I was a vegetarian my meal of choice was a junky veggie burger, fries and a chocolate shake so after 6 years of being vegan and my added interest in raw food and nutrition it’s rare that I indulge in even the vegan versions. Soooooooooo this is my healthy version! Packed with nutrients and love I give you steamed broccoli with nutritional yeast, a raw vegan blueberry chocolate spinach shake and a raw vegan BLT from Pixie Retreat (purchased at Food Fight). This meal is colorful, delicious and filling! If you want to find me I’ll be eating with love and compassion for my body and all the bodies on the planet! XOXOXO


I'd heard about Women for Women International a few times while watching Oprah and had felt drawn to the organization. Then last month when Lisa Shannon was a guest on Oprah, again talking about WfWI I decided that that was it, I was going to become a sponsor. That night I got online, signed up for my commitment to send money each month to my new sister (that I asked to be randomly assigned to) and agreed to start writing letters too.

    Shannon lives in Portland and writes, speaks and raises money for women in the Congo through WfWI and as luck would have it the fabulous Food Fight (our local vegan grocery store here in PDX) and their Let Live series had invited her to speak. Not so lucky was my household coming down with swine flu (don't even get me started about the irony and unfairness of my 2 out of 3 veg home having pig flu!) so I didn't get to attend, but Food Fight recorded it and put it up on their site! Worth the time to watch here is the link to last Sunday's talk:

     What motivated me to be a part of this? I really care about our world and I have the means to share. I feel so blessed and lucky to do so. I spend almost $27 a month on my gym membership and now I will be matching that to give to a person in need, how awesome is that? And there's more! I really believe that for myself working on kindness and connection with the people I see everywhere I go, looking people in the eyes, speaking to people and treating people the way I want to be treated is what changes the world; brings out the best in all. The basics of love. Being love. And spreading love.

*Half of a small watermelon
*Green smoothie- 30 oz of kale, collards, cacao, chocolate mint leaves, tocos, msm, maca, a date, bananas, and water.
*Running out the door for Eliot's Taekwon-Do class grabbed a banana, two tiny squares of dark chocolate and a small handful of goji berries. Eliot got "best student" today, he was so very happy!
*Green juice at Sip
*Veggie dog with mustard and dessert was coconut chocolate ice cream- just a few bites or I get very sick but man do I love the taste! … Later on and I'm feeling sick from those few bites of ice cream. Sadness.
***Went for a walk with Eliot in the sunshine.
*Snacky day- two little pancakes with strawberry jam. These were from the small batch I made with Eliot last night. We bought the package from Food Fight and the brand is Cherrybrook Kitchen  and they are tasty!
*Green smoothie- I made 32 oz and drank about half of it :Head of romaine, bananas, an orange, cinnamon and vanilla creme stevia.

B: vegan oatmeal chai blueberry pancakes at jam- today these lost their draw for me. they just didn't taste good. not enough blueberries, and too doughy.

s: 2 ounces- shot of wheatgrass at jamba juice, they looked at me like no one ever orders this, peculiar!

L:  vegan tempeh bbq wrap- blossoming lotus takeout from food fight, lucky me! i've been craving tempeh and this was alright, too many onions.

40 minutes jumping, 5 minutes abs and 10 minutes weights

eliot and i went to rudy's today where i got a haircut while he played ms pac man! we also went to scapegoat, portland's vegan tattoo shop, where i browsed the books and eliot played rampage! before those two adventures we played in a toy store with a remote control car! and before that we stopped at jamba juice and eliot drank a tiny free smoothie that had mango, strawberries, orange sorbet and more!

tonight we're watching monsters inc. while daddy paints the town with comic book artists, i can't make this stuff up.

oh yeah, and as we step out of scapegoat eliot says, "mommy, i think i want to get a tattoo of a bird."
