We had friends visit and stay with us here in Portland last weekend. And we kept busy!

Saturday morning was spent at the farmer's market and then beer and waffles at Jace Gace. We (the girls) dropped the boys (our husbands and sons) at home for the kids to nap and Amy and I went shopping. We hit NW 23rd, the only good shop is Seaplane, by far. Next we went to southeast for Xtabay, Lived-in-Lover, and Olio United then went back to our neighborhood in northeast for Mable and Zora, Pin-me Apparel and Frock!

We picked up the boys and had drinks at the Bye and Bye on a warm Saturday night. Grabbed pizza at Bella Facia and went home for some dessert wine and Coconut Bliss ice cream with berries. The men went out in a thunderstorm to go catch a ate showing of Indiana Jones.

Sunday we piled into the car to go to Jam on Hawthorne, such a great place for brunch! Spent the afternoon at the children's museum getting our kids over stimulated and tired out! Tom and Eliot had a blast with the shopping exhibit, dinosaurs and all!

Amy and I had a girls night and went to see Babymama, dinner at Nutshell, and dessert brought home from Pix! The guys got takeout from Fire on the Mountain. Crazy bbq.

Monday morning was brunch at La Petite Provence, shopping at Sock Dreams, and home again for napping. Eliot had no interest in resting so Andy and Paul took Eliot to the Avalon arcade for some games. Later on we went to dinner at a tapas restaurant called Navarre off of Burnside. Lastly we topped the night off with a cocktail at Acadia. First us girls went out, then it was the boys' turn.

It all went by so fast. We did a lot but started off each morning a little late which was nice and relaxing. On Monday evening I made chocolate shakes for everyone and they were a big hit. I served them in little wine glasses from Ikea, garnished with cacao nibs and goji berries. Here's the recipe I came up with myself!

3 very ripe and very large bananas
about one cup coconut water, I really like the ONE brand
3 heaping scoops of cacao powder
about 2 cups of ice
one small scoop of mesquite

Healthiest chocolate shake ever!

I just also have to add: Amy is a really lovely person, with blonde and pink hair, a wonderful mum, and she's always up for fun. She wears her emotions on her sleeve, (like me) and she's just great to have around. Makes me miss California all the more. sigh. Smooches Amy!!

B: vegan oatmeal chai blueberry pancakes at jam- today these lost their draw for me. they just didn't taste good. not enough blueberries, and too doughy.

s: 2 ounces- shot of wheatgrass at jamba juice, they looked at me like no one ever orders this, peculiar!

L:  vegan tempeh bbq wrap- blossoming lotus takeout from food fight, lucky me! i've been craving tempeh and this was alright, too many onions.

40 minutes jumping, 5 minutes abs and 10 minutes weights

s: rest of the wrap

D: cashew cream/nut/fruit parfait- raw- bl takeout

eliot and i went to rudy's today where i got a haircut while he played ms pac man! we also went to scapegoat, portland's vegan tattoo shop, where i browsed the books and eliot played rampage! before those two adventures we played in a toy store with a remote control car! and before that we stopped at jamba juice and eliot drank a tiny free smoothie that had mango, strawberries, orange sorbet and more!

tonight we're watching monsters inc. while daddy paints the town with comic book artists, i can't make this stuff up.

oh yeah, and as we step out of scapegoat eliot says, "mommy, i think i want to get a tattoo of a bird."

i couldn't wait for monday to exercise: 10 minutes trampoline, 2 minutes weights, 10 min tramp, 2 min weights, 15 min tramp, ran outside up my street to some stairs- 5x up and down, ran home. just under 60 stairs in a set.

B: the rest of my flourless chocolate cake, blueberries, and a banana chopped up.

L: restaurant called jam on hawthorne highly recommended for yummy food and service- oatmeal chai blueberry vegan pancakes. i was craving these for awhile- not raw! oh my they kept me really full for a very very long time!

summer, my sister-in-law, and i went to see kit pistol at seaplane today. she was super sweet and cute and she started a conversation with us commenting on how cute we looked, so fun! she gave us each a cute postcard that she signed i heart ami! love kit pistol! and she helped each of us pick out a bow clip that we both ended up purchasing. yes, that means 6 days into my own challenge i failed! lame. but i'm back in the game. there are no further events to tempt me and i won't be headed to any sales or shops. my intention is to drop this bad habit. moving on… i told you i needed support.

S: apple

D: walnut taco "meat" from the glorious goneraw.com recipe section, on two heads of romaine, an avocado and salsa. that stuff is brilliant, really tasty.
