24 ounces water

B: strawberries, little fig jam, dark chocolate

yoga: 108 sun salutations

S: half lara bar, piece of dark chocolate & I made a green smoothie for now and later with water, spinach, blueberries, pineapple, banana, mango, vanilla stevia & lucuma.

One hour of treadmill intervals w/weights in hands, side shuffling, sprinting, inclines, ab work.

L: More of the green smoothie, 2 heart shaped cookies from One Lucky Duck

24 ounces water

D: Amazing dish I added/improvised on from the latest VegNews email newsletter called Ethiopian Chickpeas. This was savory and delicious and I have leftovers. I omitted the potatoes and peas for what I had on hand- kale and green beans and made it very spicy. I also added double or more of the tomato paste to give it a creamier consistency. I ate a large yummy bowl with a whole wheat tortilla as a sub for injera. I hope the husband wants to try the leftovers because it is goooooooood!

DS: A raw vegan brownie bite made here locally in Portland.

I must tell the world (again) about One Lucky Duck and Pure Food and Wine.

Eliot and I visited either Pure, the Duck takeaway or the Chelsea location every day and sometimes twice this last week while we were in New York. Every time we were there (any of the 3!) we were greeted with smiles and kind conversation. I appreciate this so much I can't even tell you! Husband worked loads this week and E and I were on our own a lot. So to be able to come in from the cold to sweet faces, delicious food and warm spaces was so awesome. Love to all who made our time special.

Dreaming of mallomars & cacao lattes until next time!

I've made this shake four times in the last five days! Love it! And today I had the pleasure of blending and sharing it with my friend Roz Savage! Luckily she loved it and I sent her on her way to do an interview with her to-go cup full of goodness.

Sarma was kind enough to send the recipe out in her Duckmail newsletter last week and on Monday she blogged it here. Hope you get a chance to make it because it is delicious!

Have a beautiful day xoxoxoox

One Lucky Duck products are my favorite raw vegan foods to order online and to have in person in NYC. They even have TWO locations in Manhattan now! Pictured here are two cereals and my favorite way to eat them. I make some vanilla raw vegan hemp milk in my blender and pour it over the cacao or cinnamon crispies and pile on bananas, frozen blueberries, and goji berries. Amazingly delicious and good for me!

I'm expecting my next One Lucky Duck order on my doorstep very soon. This time I'm trying their new chocolate bars (I think I ordered every flavor), two kinds of crackers that I've only had in the restaurant and of course, some cacao crispies! And because I'm on the mailing list I happily took full advantage of some free shipping and free snowflake cookies. Sign up for the treats on the mailing list cause they're changing the specials daily. Happy holidays!

I have documented here on my blog some struggles with rosacea and acne that I have had. I often try new products hoping for some new magic to shine through and give me clear glowing skin. Lately I have felt I barely need to put powder on which is Huge for me. I am loving my skin. The only problem is because I began so many changes all at the same time I don't know if there is one magic cure or a sacred combination in the mix. So, I thought I'd share it all! Starting with Simply Divine Botanicals a skincare line so pure you could eat it. One of my goals has been to use paraben-free products which is tricky when dealing with rosacea and acne because most lines dealing with these issues use them. But not this yummyness!

I've been using:
*Black Velvet Foaming Facial Cleanser for all skin types (I had tried You Can't Zit Here and found it too much for me). Black Velvet suits me perfectly- sensitivities and all! Daily.
*Gypsy Rose Tea Astringent for all skin types- amazing healing life changing product for me. Love! Daily.
*Face the Day! a seaweed serum I don't use daily but I love this when I'm feeling a little dry or have stressed skin (like from flying a lot!).
*Plump up the Volume facial mist is used to activate the above seaweed serum but sometimes I use this over Skincredible (below) because it just feels so nice.
*Skincredible. Seriously. Daily. Smells earthy and heavenly at the same time. Gorgeous results.
*Honey I Shrunk the Pores- I can use this every other day and the result is firm glowing skin. Love.

And because they deserve mentioning: Two body products I've been using from Simply Divine Botanicals are How Now Brown Cacao which is a rich chocolaty body cream- swoon! And You Glow Girl Glitter Body Butter which smells like lemon, lavender and sage and makes me all shimmery! Check it all out at http://www.simplydivinebotanicals.com/ and another fun place to shop for these is at http://www.oneluckyduck.com/

I've also been taking some new supplements and vitamins:
*Vitamineral Green almost every day a scoop of this green powder goes into my smoothies.
*On a whim after reading this article http://galadarling.com/article/i-love-my-magical-pills
I quickly snatched up and started taking both Multi + Daily Glow and Perfect Skin. I take one pill of each with food every other day. I didn't realize these weren't veg when I bought them but I'm going to continue to use them because I paid for them and I think they are helping.
*MegaFlora Optimal Potency Probiotic Formula, one every day before I eat breakfast.
*Whole Foods Blair's Liver Renewal. Also one with food every other day.
*Chlorella tablets   I munch on these with my smoothie after a good workout! Angela Stokes-Monarch has been known to eat these and her skin is to live for!

New routine:
*Drinking more water, tea and kombucha.
*Exercising six days a week without fail. Consistency in weight training, cardio, plyometrics, and sweat!
*Deep breathing & meditating.
*Yoga- spending a little time upside down every single day!

Happy October first! I wish you health, happiness, deep awareness and peace. And of course an abundance of love.

xoxo

May 6 means Mercury is in retrograde again tomorrow. Be aware and patient is the advice I'm taking.

*Green smoothie- * 16 oz kale, spirulina, bananas, orange, vanilla stevia, msm, yacon syrup and water. With all the sweet stuff in it Andy still said it tasted spicy!

Eliot tried Andy's (vegan) peanut butter and strawberry jelly waffle sandwich this morning! HUGE! Five bites! I made a Food Game chart for E this morning and he can win points towards the prizes of his choice. He was very excited and dove right in. Keeping my fingers crossed we can continue on and on and on. Yummy food!

*The rest of my green smoothie about 16 oz. and piece of dark chocolate.

*Restaurant lunch with Andy and Eliot- sushi, edamame, and seaweed salad.

*Sweetpea Bakery- vegan marionberry danish

While driving to Sip Eliot says loudly to me in the car, "You are fun Mommy!" So awesome.

*Green juice from Sip

***burpees, treadmill speed and incline intervals, jump rope intervals.

*Half a Vega bar.

*Bowl of quinoa, nutritional yeast, black pepper, fresh squeezed lemon, mixed greens and a little balsamic vinegar on top. Dessert: two blueberry raw vegan cookies from One Lucky Duck.

And just because I'd like to share here's my favorite dark chocolate bar:

Hello May 4!

*Fruit salad: four mandarins, a banana, two kiwis and Chocolate Crispies cereal sprinkled on top.

4-30-2009 12-35-05 PM_0217 by waxpancake.

***one hour workout on the treadmill including 40 minutes of 15 degree incline, intervals with squats, lunges, push ups and ab work on the exercise ball. Oh She Glows inspired my workout today so thank you to her!!
*Strawberry banana and hemp ice cream with the last sprinkling of Chocolate Crispies. Boo-hoo! So sad I'm out.
*salad- balsamic vinegar, mixed greens, baby carrots, asparagus and a vegan Field Roast sausage. Here's a link: http://www.fieldroast.com/ I was very hungry after that workout, probably from the fast yesterday. Trying to be careful not to overeat today. Dessert was the remainder of Eliot's sprouted wheat bagel- about a 1/4 with Tofutti cream cheese and Crofter's strawberry jam.

Here's a link I found today and an excerpt from the article I found interesting to note:

Here's a list of foods that will help you get that flat stomach.

Apples, to increase your fiber content
Nonfat, plain yogurt to increase your friendly bacteria
Grapefruits, because they are high in B vitamins, which aid in any weight-loss program
Sauerkraut, which aids in your bowel transition time
Broccoli, which provides many nutrients for your hormones to produce enzymes

*Dinner! Not too hungry so I ate a braeburn apple with a pile of my favorite kale chips, Quite Cheesy! And some mango Synergy kombucha.
