Life affirming. That was my thought leaving yoga on Monday. I saw two people walking in to their power vinyasa class and their bodies appeared to radiate to me, "we are life affirming." I think that's what yoga, exercise, sunshine, and vegan food are for me- life affirming. I just can't seem to say it enough.

What is life affirming for you?

My friend Roz Savage is very life affirming and a gift of perspective each day she shares her adventurous life on her blog, rozsavage.com. The other day she posted this poem and I hope she doesn't mind my passing it along. Please visit her blog too, you'll love it.

So here's the poem. I had a bit of it going through my head as I began my run today and it got me energized. xoxo

If you think you are beaten, you are. If you think you dare not, you don't. If you'd like to win, but don't think you can It's almost certain you won't.

If you think you'll lose, you've lost, For out of the world you'll find Success begins with a fellow's will. It's all in the state of mind.

If you think you're outclassed, you are. You've got to think high to rise. You've got to be sure of yourself before You can ever win a prize.

Life's battles don't always go To the stronger or faster man, But sooner or later the man who wins Is the one who thinks he can.

Roz is rowing, and you sexy voxers should check her out, if you haven't already. My beautiful, smart, funny and courageous friend is out there on the Pacific rowing and taking time to share her experience each day.

From time to time I'll be writing here about Roz and poking you in the bloggie ribs to go pay her a visit because I think she's worth it.

smooches,

Roz Savage is on her way to Hawaii!!!  I'm so very excited to say my dear friend is safely on her way with good weather on her side. She took off from under the Golden Gate bridge, which must have been just goose-bumpy exciting for her and those who were there to send her off. Beauty!

You can follow her blog: http://www.rozsavage.com/blog/ and track her position on her awesome map.

Please check out her story and videos when you can, they are very inspiring. You'll feel a bit like a super hero yourself just watching her in action. Roz is brave, kind and strong. Send her some love and it'll come back to you for sure, tenfold.

Have a beautiful and inspired day. This story does really put me in the clouds, can you tell? ha!

this is something i'm quite interested in and passionate about: diamonds and how silly they are.

one story sticks with me and i never explained it to my then, very new friend, roz savage, what exactly was on my finger.

we were partnered up for some ab work at boot camp and while i was pulling myself up doing sit-ups roz remarked on my ring. something like, wow, that's a ring, or the like. well, not even diamond talk can stop me while i'm working out. so i never got the opportunity to tell her it wasn't what she thought. i haven't worn a diamond ring for years. i wear a huge sparkling cubic zirconia, a CZ, a big fake one on a lovely platinum band. my ring does have a few little real diamond rocks in it, albeit tiny, laid into the band. it's a lovely design. my husband might cringe at this admittance because men need to provide and so on, blah, blah blah…i like sparkling things. i don't like sparkling things that are marketed to me and pushed on me since i was a child. "a diamond is forever" and such. the big guys want us to believe a diamond is rare making sure only so many get into the US so the price stays up. they hurt people to this end, end of story. many people have blogged about this much more eloquently then me. if you'd like to know more these are great articles by anil dash and he links to other useful information on this subject:

http://www.dashes.com/anil/2006/12/blood-diamonds.html
http://www.dashes.com/anil/2003/01/diamonds-are-fo.html

and yes my husband could buy me a big old diamond if i wanted one, but i don't and i can't imagine i ever ever will!

more fun food ideas for roz savage and her trip across the pacific:

amysue from goneraw pointed me to chia seeds, which i learned is also the same as a chia pet!

Ch-ch-ch-chia

http://www.living-foods.com/articles/chia.ht – lots of information on chia's history and benefits. who knew chia was a "superfood"?

i really wish i was going to anaheim this weekend for the natural products expo. i'm sure "superfoods" and raw foods are going to be a hot topic.

izhpt, also on goneraw, has found coconut water and dates to be useful for recovery after long runs.

now roz, wouldn't a lovely chia pet make a dear companion on your journey? Ha! just kidding, or maybe not?

super lucky me i got to meet roz savage (http://www.rozsavage.com/) about a year ago at bay area boot camp. i went to her website before that first day of camp. at the time i was an assistant coach and i was very excited but scared to meet this superhuman! and instantly she was humble, interesting and kind. even at 6:30 in the morning!

roz is setting out this year to be the first women to row solo across the pacific ocean! please watch her videos of her atlantic row, they are breathtaking. so, obviously i've become a super-fan of this woman's choices and actions. and we've kept in touch! since i last saw her, summer time last year, maybe? well, again just check out her site, she's been busy!

and now she and i are talking food, specifically raw food. yummy and close to my heart.

amysue on the goneraw forums recommends information from tim vanorden http://www.runningraw.com/faq.htm. he's a raw athlete who amysue says is big on lara bars, (me too!) cacao nibs and honey!

michigan roman, also on goneraw  points us to brendan brazier: www.brendanbrazier.com. and roman's own personal strategy is to stay off salt when doing his endurance running. and he says he loves his trail mix:walnut / almond / sunseed / raisin / dry date / dry fig / dry pineapple.

more later!

What is your home decorating style, and how has it changed over time? Do you have plans to redecorate?
Submitted by enSue.

i think i hold back to much in my decorating style. i'm really into minimalism and modern. and andy tends to be afraid of this being too cold so i end up adding shapes and colors that aren't my first choice. my other reason for holding back is that i've always been waiting to do what i truly want to do for the house we own/build.

so i like simple but i also like little bits of lovely personality with photos, art, sentimental pieces, but not cluttered. as i design my dream house i'll be incorporating built-ins and shelves, places for art, big windows. i start salivating at the thought. i really want to design a home for us.

clothing! on monday i ended up with a third outfit! i put on a lacy white tank layered under a marc by marc jacobs tunic top and true religion dark jeans with the woman patch on the butt. tuesday i wore my charolette i love you red and white striped tee and jeans to eliot's new gym class! wednesday i did camp consultations and had on my white tank under my lamb pirate ship tee, marc by marc jacobs green gauchos and black boots. in the evening i went to an amazing event* with eliot in menlo park and wore a lovely black top with satin covered buttons on the 3/4 length sleeves, a key hole back and fitted, jeans rolled to my knees with tall black boots.

*roz savage gave an inspiring talk telling her atlantic ocean tale and answering questions. eliot even got to touch her big boat!! http://www.rozsavage.com/
