I had my friend, Ann shorten this little cute dress from Flutter to make it a mini, I love it! Wearing it with Black Milk wet look pantyhose, same shoes- again! Cardigan from Target and the star in my hair is from Giant Dwarf on Etsy!

Husband's birthday is today and per his birthday wishes we've been going out every night this week for dinner. He didn't want any pressies just lots of food. So here are some of my going out clothes with the hubby and child from this week. Good times. (Actually began last Saturday- I'll do another post with all the PDX restaurants we've visited!)

I love Sock Dreams and was compelled to head out to their brick and mortar store last Saturday. And on Sunday I wore these beautiful new tights. Here are my photos:

Minimalist footwear for running is exploding on the internet- or have I just found it? NPR, Reuters, Harvard and bloggers are all talking about "barefoot" running. Am I just catching up or are they? Funny. Either way, my calves are sore, I'm running faster and my toes are happier! I'm 2 1/2 weeks in and haven't put on my New Balance running shoes (which I always ran in as a hard and heavy heel striker) and I see no reason to wear them. Now on to clothes!

This is a fun little outfit I wore last Easter:

Again with that awesome J Crew striped t, a Forever 21 green dress, black heart belt by Betsey Johnson, a blue petticoat from Sock Dreams, yellow tights from Target and again my Melissas by Vivienne Westwood.

Birthday plans for Thursday February 12. May have to do some of this on Valentine's Day cause the list is too long!

*Pie – to look at vegan footwear.
*Sephora – to smell perfumes.
*Blossoming Lotus – to eat raw vegan food.
*Yummy Tummy – for more raw vegan food.
*Free People – to try on pretty clothes in their equally pretty dressing rooms.
*Seaplane – cause it's next to Free People. Clothes are really expensive here but handmade and gorgeous to admire.
*Anthropologie – love it and I've got a gift card. Thanks Toni and Michael!
*Urban Outfitters – I love their new heart shaped mixing bowls.
*boot camp at the gym – cause I like to sweat and it's my birthday.
*Stella McCartney for Adidas – oh, yeah there's no where to buy it in Portland. blech.
*Lululemon – love this store too. Best pants and jackets to work out in even if their design turnover is way too fast for my taste.
*Yoga class – a nice way to start the day. If I don't go to a class I'll at least spend some time when I wake up doing sun salutations and more.
*Laurelhurst Park – for a walk if it's not too cold.
*Sock Dreams – duh!
*Xtabay – because it's fun to look.

We had friends visit and stay with us here in Portland last weekend. And we kept busy!

Saturday morning was spent at the farmer's market and then beer and waffles at Jace Gace. We (the girls) dropped the boys (our husbands and sons) at home for the kids to nap and Amy and I went shopping. We hit NW 23rd, the only good shop is Seaplane, by far. Next we went to southeast for Xtabay, Lived-in-Lover, and Olio United then went back to our neighborhood in northeast for Mable and Zora, Pin-me Apparel and Frock!

We picked up the boys and had drinks at the Bye and Bye on a warm Saturday night. Grabbed pizza at Bella Facia and went home for some dessert wine and Coconut Bliss ice cream with berries. The men went out in a thunderstorm to go catch a ate showing of Indiana Jones.

Sunday we piled into the car to go to Jam on Hawthorne, such a great place for brunch! Spent the afternoon at the children's museum getting our kids over stimulated and tired out! Tom and Eliot had a blast with the shopping exhibit, dinosaurs and all!

Amy and I had a girls night and went to see Babymama, dinner at Nutshell, and dessert brought home from Pix! The guys got takeout from Fire on the Mountain. Crazy bbq.

Monday morning was brunch at La Petite Provence, shopping at Sock Dreams, and home again for napping. Eliot had no interest in resting so Andy and Paul took Eliot to the Avalon arcade for some games. Later on we went to dinner at a tapas restaurant called Navarre off of Burnside. Lastly we topped the night off with a cocktail at Acadia. First us girls went out, then it was the boys' turn.

It all went by so fast. We did a lot but started off each morning a little late which was nice and relaxing. On Monday evening I made chocolate shakes for everyone and they were a big hit. I served them in little wine glasses from Ikea, garnished with cacao nibs and goji berries. Here's the recipe I came up with myself!

3 very ripe and very large bananas
about one cup coconut water, I really like the ONE brand
3 heaping scoops of cacao powder
about 2 cups of ice
one small scoop of mesquite

Healthiest chocolate shake ever!

I just also have to add: Amy is a really lovely person, with blonde and pink hair, a wonderful mum, and she's always up for fun. She wears her emotions on her sleeve, (like me) and she's just great to have around. Makes me miss California all the more. sigh. Smooches Amy!!
