What's your favorite heartbreak song?
Submitted by esta86.

had me a trick and a kick and your message

well you'll never gain weight from a doughnut hole

then thought that i could decipher your message

there's no one here dear no one at all

and if i'm wasting all your time this time

maybe you never learned to take

and if i'm hanging on to your shade

guess i'm way beyond the pale

and southern men can grow gold

can grow perty

blood can be perty

like a delicate man

copper to steel to a hinge that is faltered

that let's you in let's you in let's you in

somethings just keeping you numb

you told me last night you were a sun now

with your very own devoted satellite

happy for you and i am sure that i hate you

too sons too many too many able fires

and if i'm wasting all your time this time

i think you never learned to take

and if i'm hanging on to your shade

i guess i'm way beyond the pale

               ~tori amos

and there's plenty more where that came from. how about the line, "i've shaved every place that you've been boy."

and the entire song "baker baker" and "cooling", "cool on your island", "tear in your hand", "suede", "honey" and

"hotel". i could go on and on. tori does break up music raw and bleeding, if you're interested.

What song best describes your current mood?
Submitted by Section31.

hola, rojo morning to you
you always helped me chase demons away
don't know what i'll do without you
so Pan is the name of the plane

second to the right straight on til morning
that's where i'll be waiting
second to the right straight on til morning

hola, tick-tock
my time is up
Pedro says
i will forget him in days
in my new life, no room
for a lost boy
boys can be so dumb sometimes

second to the right straight on til morning
that's where i'll be waiting
second to the right
straight on til morning
straight on til morning

kiss pedro for me

i sang this in the shower this morning, and i NEVER sing in the shower. I've been in a tori mood.

What are some of your favorite, forgotten albums that have stood the test of time?
Submitted by PeterGibbons.

when i was about seven years old my mom would put on olivia newton-johns's album, physical, to get me up in the morning. and i can't help it i still love it. the subject matter of some songs i ofcourse didn't understand as a child but i sang along with every word. the album liner is photos of olivia swimming with dolphins, so pretty. the lyrics are printed on those pics.
i attached myself to revolver by the beatles fairly young. i listened to it on a cassette. here there and everywhere changed my heart.
and one last recording would have to be edie brickell and the new bohemians shooting rubber bands at the sky. i rewrote her lyrics over and over again.
oops, i lied, last one is little earthquakes from tori amos. she and that album felt like the soundtrack to my life when i was 16. i was getting ready for school one random morning and mtv was on on my bedroom tv. they happened to play tori's video for silent all these years. this was the first moment i had heard of tori. it felt as if she was singing the words i knew but hadn't put together yet. she sang inside my heart and her music is still a touchstone for me.

What do you collect?

1.i'm a big sucker for all things sanrio. primarily hello kitty and chococat. i buy notebooks, bags, wallets, shirts, jewelry and more. it's a problem. i am a grown woman after all. but i enjoy it still.
2.i collect tori amos stuff but not as obsessively as i have in the past. some of my prized collection of tori includes never released photos, they are the 3×5 prints from a photo shoot in studio with michael stipe, a signed little earthquakes promo cassette and a personal message from tori when i met her that she signed on my scarlett's walk map.
3.i love marc jacobs and betsey johnson, i think of my clothes as collections.
4.my fantasy is to have a room with all of my art supplies and crafty crap in it. i get giddy around fabrics and ribbons and other trims. i'd be lost for hours creating and organizing.
5.tom robbins
6*.thomas the tank engine is very big in our house and is beginning to rival all of my collections and my husband's put together.

*technically my son's collection, but we all enjoy it.

What song or lyrics are stuck in your head at the moment?  What album is it from?
Submitted by Lox Ly

daisy dead petals by tori amos, it's a b-side. the reason is yesterday's post. each time i write a post on vox the title of it is a tori amos lyric or a song title. yes, because i'm a big freaky fan. also today i've had a song from the tv show blues clues going through my head because i sing it to my two year old. at the moment i've got the beatles something in the way she moves playing in my brain because i heard it on a soap opera this afternoon. so there you have it. music everywhere.

daisy dead petals
that is her name
she's in a phone booth phase, so
underneath the shade of a peppermint tray
she can turn it out with a heel on
she just rides into town
knowing what they'll say
knowing they're around the corner
got a crack in
got a crack in some strange places

daisy dead petals
that is her name
so maybe she tastes like a hamburger maid, well
these dead petals, honey, brought me here
she said these dead petals honey brought me here

dancing on a dime
hearing mother cry
maybe she's around the corner

got a crack in
got a crack in some strange places
on my back with
on my back with some dirty dishes

falling down falling down
all over the river
falling down falling down
falling down

wish what i'm feeling
could go on like this forever
falling down falling down
falling down

and since we're down
might as well stay
might as well fry some eggs
and wave to the shade of the peppermint tray
she's a new friend not a skeleton
to ride into town
 knowing what they'll say
knowing she tastes like a hamburger maid, but
these dead petals honey brought me here
she said these dead petals honey brought me here
